A small shop.
A world of its own.

In May 1993, an advert announced the opening of the Acupuncture shop at 3 Tisbury Court, just off Wardour Street in Soho.
Its layout was direct: a cut-and-paste name, a grainy portrait and a list of things you could find inside. Acupuncture sat alongside denim, linen, vintage clothing and old-school trainers. The shop brought its own pieces into conversation with other labels and earlier styles.
A shop with its own point of view
The advert is a small record of that mix. Its references move between clothing, footwear and music imagery, giving a sense of the world around the shop rather than presenting a single, polished look.
More than thirty years later, that feels like a useful place to begin this archive: a real address, an opening announcement and a taste for putting things together in your own way.
This is the first story from Philip’s press book. We’ll return to its adverts, photographs and press features to look more closely at the people, objects and ideas around early Acupuncture.
From the collection: Philip’s press book, scan 64. Shop-opening advert, marked “Opening May 93”. The advert also lists other labels stocked by the shop; those products are not attributed to Acupuncture. Original publication and image credits are not identified in the surviving clipping.
